Procedure for inlays and onlays
This procedure for inlays and onlay takes two or more appointments, and the process is as follows:

First Appointment:

Step 1: Firstly, the dentist will make a thorough examination of the tooth and decide whether an inlay or onlay is more suitable for the tooth. 

Step 2: After the decision, the tooth will be prepared, which involves removing any damaged or decayed area and shaping it for further restoration for an ideal fit.

Step 3: Once done, the teeth's impression or mold will be taken. Then this impression will be sent to a dental laboratory for the custom onlay or inlay. 

Step 4: Since it takes some time for the permanent crown or bridge to be made, a temporary restoration will be placed over it for protection. 

Second Appointment:

Step 5: In the next sitting, when the custom-made inlay or onlay is ready, the final restoration will take place. The permanent ones will replace the temporary restoration. 

Step 6: Then, the permanent onlay or inlay will be checked for fit, comfort, and appearance before any necessary adjustment. It will then be bonded onto the tooth or teeth using dental cement. 

Step 7: The dentist will polish the restoration to give it a smooth and natural appearance.
