Tooth radiographs or dental radiographs are commonly known as dental X-rays, which take images of the teeth, bones, and soft tissues inside the mouth. How are dental X-rays done?
Here is a walk-through when a patient gets an X-ray, though it can be different with different equipment and the type of X-ray that is taken. Here are the general steps involved: 

Step 1: The dentist or dental professional will take all the necessary care and precaution and will palace a lead apron over the patient to protect the exposed parts.

Step 2: The dentist will position the patient in the X-ray machine, and film or sensor will be placed in the mouth or next to the cheek.

Step 3: The X-ray will take place so as to scan the image of the teeth and their surrounding area. The dentist will ask the patient to be still so as to take a clear picture.
